Things are actually going good! I’m pretty surprised at how little I’m eating - the food is filling and low on calories, so I’m having no trouble maintaining a 1650 calorie a day diet, something that would have required a considerable amount of exercise previously.

As you can see from the rightmost green line in this plot from Fit, I’m pretty comfortably below my target calories per day. I feel good, too.

iChat with George

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

My boyhood friend George, who still lives in Anchorage, asked me to do some iPhone UI review with him today and I snatched this picture while we were talking.

He is a *great* guy and I feel lucky to be beta testing his new app for him. I think it’s going to be a big winner for him.

Wordpress on the iPhone

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

The fact that Wordpress is now available on the iPhone has dramatically changed the way that I write.

I write code and lead a team of engineers. When I’m at a computer I’m supposed to be writing code, emails, etc. Writing a blog is necessary but also something that I don’t really have enough time to do well. As a consequence of this my writing has either been terse, or sporadic, of both.

Since I set up Wordpress on my phone I’ve noticed a big shift in my writing style. I can nurse along a work in progress in my spare time, or at times like now, when I can’t really sleep.

Suddenly I have the time to focus and make these posts the way they should be, because now I can take them out and keep working on them at any time and place that I have a few minutes of downtime.

I am currently working on about 4 posts, one of which is quite long. Wordpress on my iPhone has made me a much more prolific and deliberate writer. I suggest checking it out if you haven’t already.
